A. We are a card and gift shop that also over a range of handmade Belgian chocolates and balloons.
Q. Why did you start your business? What’s your favourite thing about being an owner?
A. I’ve always wanted my own card shop, and it’s something I’m truly passionate about. The best part of being an owner is the pride I feel in creating and achieving something on my own.
Q. Describe what a day in your business looks like. What routines do you follow each day?
A. Our first priority is ensuring the shop is clean and organised, creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers. We then attend to any balloon orders, both scheduled and walk-ins, throughout the day. We diligently restock the shelves and promptly store any incoming deliveries. It’s crucial to have a staff member available at the register at all times, ready to assist customers and provide any necessary support.

A. What sets us apart is our extensive collection of cards, offering a wide variety of themes and occasions. Our business stands out for offering a fridge filled with exquisite handmade Belgian chocolates, available in pre-made assortments or for customers to personally select and customise.
Q. What’s the biggest piece of advice you have for people interested in starting up an independent business like yours?
A. The key aspect is providing excellent customer service and creating a positive experience for every customer. It’s crucial to maintain extensive opening hours, staying open as long as possible, even during quieter periods, instead of closing early. Above all, perseverance is vital—never give up and continue to find joy in what you do, especially during challenging times. If you have a genuine passion for your business, staying committed will end in rewarding results.

A. We offer official merchandise for both Manchester City and Manchester United football clubs.
Q. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
A. I was actually born in East Africa and moved to England in 1972 when I was 10 years old. In fact when I moved to England I didn’t know a single word of English.
Q. What is the best thing about the location of your business? why did you choose the Village Square?
A. I decided to establish my business in the village square due to its close-knit community and the appeal of being a small business located in the heart of a village centre.
