With a handmade market, activities for kids and a unique book event, Bramhall’s V E Day Celebrations on Saturday 10 May promise to be full of fun and educational too.
Worker Bee Markets have joined together with local award-winning bookshop Simply Books to bring you a day to remember.
From 10am, there will be 45+ local, talented, hand-picked makers in the pedestrianised Village Square until 3pm. Stalls include freshly baked goods, intricate handmade jewellery, fun crafts, perfect gifts and homeware as well as authentic Turkish Streetfood, Hong Kong savoury snacks and locally distilled gin!
Alongside the market, The Activity Academy who provide a safe and fun environment for children to explore a variety of activities such as dance, crafts, sports, and games will be setting up a crafting table helping kids explore the 1940s and find out more about V E Day and the Second World War.
Local close-up magician, Simon Hobday – “Hobbers” will be in his bunco booth where families can marvel over his clever tricks and try some for themselves.
At 3pm, there’s a special event in Bramhall Methodist Church on Bramhall Lane South, round the corner from the Village Square. Writer and historian Dr Tessa Dunlop will be talking about her book LEST WE FORGET and is joined by local veterans who can bring V E Day to life in a personal and unique way.
Entry to the market and activities is free. Tickets for the Book Event are £6 each, available on the Simply Books website https://lu.ma/lestweforget
